Key Equations

N₀ (dBm/Hz) ≈ −174 dBm/Hz + 10·log₁₀(T / 290)

Nideal (dBm) = N₀ + 10·log₁₀(BHz)

Nsystem (dBm) = Nideal + NF + margin

Sensitivity (dBm) = Nsystem + SNRrequired

The sensitivity is the minimum signal power at the receiver input that still achieves the required SNR at the detector. In practice, additional implementation losses, coding gain, and interference can shift the required margin.
